In 1894, when Jacques-Henri Lartigue was born, the foundations of the Château de Trévarez were being laid. Everything was to be large, modern, comfortable and luxurious. At least, this was how James de Kerjégu imagined it and he left the château in this condition when he died in 1908. Jacques-Henri Lartigue’s photographs, exhibited in the parklands of the estate, perfectly capture this belle époque, a period when Françoise and Henri de la Ferronnays would come to Trévarez with their guests and a place where children and adults took pleasure in posing before the camera.
