A formal garden with its vertugadin [amphitheatral sloped garden lawn], inspired by the legacy of 17th century French gardens, lines the esplanade of the château’s southern façade. A classical garden inspired by the Italian Renaissance lines the western facade as far as the manege, now transformed into an English garden. The main pathways are bordered with varieties of heathland plants (andromeda, camellias, hybrid rhododendrons, hortensias, skimmias, osmanthus) and exotic trees... A Japanese garden was planted in the 1920s.

Opening onto an agro-pastoral landscape, the park is a transition between stylized gardens and the surrounding nature.

Different sculptures or architectural elements embellish the gardens and the park: a large pond, a mill, fountains, a sundial... The park originally included an orchard, whose utilitarian vocation meant it was located out of sight of the château. All that remain today are the greenhouses and the surrounding structural wall. 

In 1968, the Domaine de Trévarez was purchased by the Conseil général du Finistère [Finistère Departmental Council]. From private property, the park became a public space with a surface area of 85 hectares, open to all. The park was gradually restored and embellished, 3 major collections (camellias, rhododendrons and hydrangeas) were developed reinforcing the estate’s botanical expertise that is now renowned and recognized at national level. In 2006, the park was awarded the ‘Remarkable Garden’ distinction by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.
